The Birth of Body Icing
An idea born from a dream. An innovation that became a reality.
April 2020.
France is in lockdown. Time seems to stand still. One night, at 3:30 in the morning, I woke up suddenly after a dream that was as strange as it was vivid.
In this dream, I am preparing my grandmother's pound cake, with her lemon icing.
A familiar, almost innocuous image…
And yet, something has just been triggered.
I can't fall back asleep.
What if we could completely rethink the way we apply cold to the body?
Not just putting down an ice pack.
But imagine a device capable of conforming to an anatomical area, staying in place and allowing for simple, comfortable application of cold adapted to daily life as well as post-operative needs.
That night, without yet knowing it, BODY ICING was born.
From dream to first prototype
From the very next day, the idea never left me.
I draw. I imagine. I search for materials, shapes, solutions.
The first drafts appear.
Then came the first prototypes.
Very quickly, one thing became clear: to go further, this intuition needed to meet the expertise of the medical world.
That's when the discussions with healthcare professionals, particularly surgeons, began.
Their observations, their field experience and the problems encountered by their patients gradually allow the concept to evolve.
The initial idea becomes a real project.
Reinventing the application of cold
BODY ICING is built around a simple conviction:
Cold has been used since time immemorial. But its application can be considerably improved.
A standard ice pack is rarely designed to precisely fit the anatomy of the affected area.
It can slip, move, need to be held in place and become restrictive in daily life.
BODY ICING therefore chose a different approach:
Developing cryotherapy solutions designed based on the human body and its different anatomical areas.
The device is no longer simply placed on the body.
It is designed for the body.
This philosophy is gradually becoming the DNA of BODY ICING.
When innovation meets patients' needs
Through discussions with healthcare professionals and the development of various prototypes, the possibilities multiply. Surgery, post-operative recovery, traumatology, pain requiring the local application of cold…
Needs vary depending on the area of the body. That's why BODY ICING is progressively developing specific solutions, designed to adapt to different anatomical regions and uses. The same philosophy guides each development:
Starting from a concrete need, understanding the anatomical constraints and imagining a solution that allows cold to be applied in a simple and practical way.
From an intuition to a range dedicated to cryotherapy
What began as an idea that arose in the middle of the night has gradually become a range of solutions dedicated to cryotherapy and the localized application of cold.
